This is a simple step by step tutorial showing an easy method for painting a creepy eye popping effect. The supplies needed are one ping pong ball, some markers, and red, black, white, light brown, and dark brown makeup. You can use creme, oil based makeups, or cheap halloween store colors. This makeup took approximately ten minutes to apply.
Be creative. Once you have mastered the basic design, experiment! The angles of pulled skin can be easily changed and other areas of the face can be used. Try peeling open a nostril or exposing some teeth.
Begin by drawing large diamond shapes in blood red around the eyes.
Also, a triangular shape is added to the lower lip.
With a lighter brown, parallel the shapes around the eye. This creates the bunching of flesh where it is pulled. The shapes should radiate out from around the eye like ripples in water.
Use black makeup to outline the blood red shapes around the eyes and mouth. This creates depth.
Gently blend the light brown lines.
With dark brown add a dark line to define the skin fold shape.
With black makeup, draw vertical lines from the outer corners of the red triangles to the hairline. Lines are also drawn from the cheek past the jaw line and from the lip to around the chin. These lines mimic the strings or wires holding back the flesh.
Subtle black lines can be drawn within the blood red shapes as to mimic muscle or tissue.
